Position Summary: Frederica Academy seeks an Upper School Spanish Instructor to begin in July 2026. Interested applicants should be able to teach Spanish III, Honors Spanish III, Honors Spanish IV, and AP Spanish Language and Culture. Ideal candidates will foster a dynamic, student-centered learning environment that emphasizes communication, cultural understanding, and critical thinking.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Upper School Spanish Instructor is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
- Develop the curriculum materials, syllabus, outlines and assessments
- Lead the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society)
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in contributing to the broader life of the school by engaging in extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, service projects, or travel experiences.
- Conduct after-school Office Hours as scheduled
- Participate in all homeroom, faculty, and department meetings as called. Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Upper School Director or Head of School
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or related field (Master’s degree is preferred)
- Fluency in Spanish and English
- Commitment to professional growth, including completion of College Board-sponsored AP training (or willingness to attend)
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative community
- A strong understanding of second language acquisition and effective pedagogical strategies
- Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of learning styles and a range of abilities
- Ethical behavior, professionalism and a respect for diversity
- Demonstrated success in teaching high school Spanish, preferably including advanced-level courses
