A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN UNDERGROUND UTILITY ASSISTANT
As an Underground Utility Assistant, you lend a helping hand to our equipment operators by locating buried utilities. Your careful efforts prevent costly damage and ensure our installation, maintenance, and repair projects proceed smoothly. As someone who enjoys the outdoors, you're glad to spend each workday out in the field!
You pick up materials and check grade elevations to ensure job sites are prepped and safe for heavy equipment. Using a shovel, you hand dig designated areas to uncover underground utilities such as electric, water, and sewer lines. When leaving a job site, you make sure the area is free of debris, and you properly store your tools. You're happy your job allows you to be active outdoors, and you like being part of a tight-knit crew!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN UNDERGROUND UTILITY ASSISTANT
- Valid driver's license and the ability to pull a trailer while driving a pickup truck
- Residence within 30 minutes of Champaign, IL
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
