Essential Functions
- Lead daily seafood department operations
- Receive, prep, cut, and merchandise fresh seafood and shellfish
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards (FDA/HACCP)
- Train, mentor, and supervise team members on product knowledge, knife skills, and customer service
- Manage inventory, ordering, pricing, and shrink
- Create eye-catching seafood displays that drive sales
- Address and resolve customer questions or concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient department
- 1 year of leadership experience in seafood, grocery, or perishable departments
- 2 years retail or customer-facing food experience preferred
- Hands-on seafood experience: cutting, prepping, merchandising
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team
- Comfortable with inventory, reporting, and basic math
- Tech-savvy: email, inventory, and operational software proficiency
- Motivated, energetic, and ready to lead by example
- Receiving early-morning seafood deliveries
- Prepping fresh fish for display and sale
- Training your team on knife skills, trimming, and merchandising
- Engaging with loyal customers and offering advice
- Keeping the department spotless, fresh, and inviting
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Stand and walk most of the day
- Work in wet/cold environments (freezers, coolers, seafood cases)
- Bend, reach, and safely handle knives and other tools
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by store schedule
