Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Daily Routes: Manage the real-time dispatching of school buses, ensuring drivers are on schedule and routes are optimized.
- Communication Hub: Serve as the primary point of contact between bus drivers, school administrators, and parents via radio and phone.
- Problem Solving: Rapidly respond to mechanical breakdowns, traffic delays, or emergency situations to minimize disruptions.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of driver hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and incident reports.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all drivers are following Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) safety standards and local traffic laws.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation (school transportation experience is a major plus).
- Local Knowledge: Strong familiarity with South Miami-Dade geography, including school zones and peak traffic corridors.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with GPS tracking software, two-way radio systems, and basic office software (Excel/Word).
- Communication Skills: A calm, professional demeanor—especially when handling high-pressure situations or concerned parents.
- Availability: Ability to work split shifts or early morning hours (typically starting at 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM) to align with school schedules.
