General Description:
The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to work at Franklin High School.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with administering first aid to children
- Administer medication in accordance with school policy
- Perform specific medical procedures as prescribed and outlined in the student’s health care plan
- Conduct growth and development screenings as mandated by 105 CMR 200.000
- Confer with supervisor, site administrator, and the school nurse regarding student needs, policies, and procedures
- Substitute for the Van LPN, to ride van to and from school to provide medical monitoring of students, as needed
- Maintain records
- Participate in educational programs designed to increase knowledge and enhance the quality of practical nursing care in the school setting
- Upholds professional standards, the Massachusetts Nursing Practice Act and other state and local statutes and regulations applicable to school nursing practice; and adheres to district policies
- Keeps current with any changes to applicable nursing practices and standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the School Principal or School Nurse
- Hold a valid LPN License in the State of Massachusetts
- Experience working with children and youth is preferred
- Able to take initiative and work independently
- Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
