GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under general administrative direction of the Safety Director, assist in the development and promotion of the company-wide safety program. Assist the Safety Director with planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the activities and programs of the department; monitors employees during daily work activities and advises supervisors regarding safety programs, policies, standards, and violations; performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs field audits, consisting of documenting deficits and recommending improvements for compliance with OSHA, MUTCD and Frankfort Plant Board (FPB) standards and codes. Audits may be used for training and also for providing documentation for liability and regulatory/citation purposes.
- Develops detailed knowledge of OSHA 1910, 1926, 1904, and 1903 standards as applied to FPB.
- Develops working knowledge of safety rules and regulations from numerous federal, state and local agencies such as EPA, NFPA, DOT and NEC standards and codes as applied to the FPB.
- Serves as resource person for field safety questions that arise during daily work routine.
- Coordinates hazard communications program including maintenance of SDS files and chemical inventories in compliance with OSHA 1910.1200.
- Conducts facility audits.
- Serves as a "competent person" as defined by OSHA during trenching and excavation activities as dictated by OSHA standards.
- Coordinates lockout/tagout program in compliance with OSHA 1910.147 & 1910.269.
- Assists Safety Director with workers compensation program.
- Investigates and properly documents auto and other liability claim accidents.
- Coordinates permit required confined space program in compliance with OSHA 1910.146.
- Develops safety training library for use by departments for safety meetings.
- Prepares and presents safety programs (both video and live presentations).
- Performs duties of designated first aid responder and maintains training in basic first aid, blood borne pathogens, and CPR certification.
- Provides instruction, evaluates and designates forklift operators as certified per OSHA 1910.178 regulations.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrate and maintain multi-gas meters for all departments.
- Coordinates electric protectives equipment for all departments (except electric) in accordance with OHSA 1910.137.
- Attend all departmental safety meetings.
- In absence of director conducts the duties of the Safety Director.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Pay: $25.75 - $38.63 per hour
