The Restaurant Expeditor plays a critical role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and excellent guest experiences in a casual or fast casual dining setting. Working with a medium-sized team of 6-15 members, the expeditor coordinates orders, checks food quality, and manages timing to keep service efficient and on schedule. This role involves occasional direct customer interaction and requires familiarity with POS systems and manual paper ticket management. Occasional travel between multiple locations may be required.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate orders between front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery
  • Perform thorough food quality checks before dishes leave the kitchen
  • Act as a communication liaison between kitchen, wait staff, and occasionally customers
  • Manage timing of orders to optimize kitchen workflow and customer satisfaction
  • Oversee plate presentation to maintain restaurant standards
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or issues promptly
  • Interact occasionally with customers to address concerns or special requests
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain a cohesive work environment
  • Enforce sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
  • Resolve issues related to orders, timing, or food preparation swiftly

 

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in food service
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices
  • Proficiency in order management and POS systems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities
  • Close attention to detail
