About the Role
Francison Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Junior Project Cost Estimator to join our established Cost Estimating team supporting LAUSD. This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest and most impactful school construction programs in the country while learning from a highly experienced team.
You’ll contribute to developing independent cost estimates, supporting change order pricing, and helping project teams make informed financial decisions. This role offers strong exposure to real world projects, collaboration with seasoned professionals, and a clear path for growth in construction cost management.
What You’ll Do
You’ll play a key role in helping projects stay financially on track by building clear, reliable cost insights and supporting smart decision making.
- Develop independent cost estimates to support project teams in evaluating proposals and strengthening negotiation positions
- Support change order pricing by preparing detailed estimates for owner representatives
- Assist with pricing discussions and negotiations by providing data driven insights
- Analyze claims and prepare cost evaluations to assess validity and impact
- Build detailed construction cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and conceptual sketches
- Review contractor proposals and claims to ensure accuracy, fairness, and accountability
- Stay informed on market trends by researching current labor and material cost changes
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field
- At least 2 years of hands on experience in construction estimating, ideally within facilities or school construction projects
- Strong understanding of local labor and material costs
- Experience scoping and pricing change orders with confidence
- Ability to compare independent estimates with contractor proposals and clearly identify gaps or discrepancies
- Skilled at developing scope from RFIs and RFCs and independently pricing that work
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to dig into details and uncover key insights

Salary : $140,000 - $145,000
