The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is committed to creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment. We seek a dedicated Developmental Screener - Early Childhood to deliver vital screening services, ensuring children receive the necessary support and resources.

Job Summary

The Developmental Screener - Early Childhood delivers screening services to children using district and state-approved protocols. This role involves evaluating developmental milestones, providing consultation, and ensuring proper referrals for additional services when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screening Administration:

Conduct language, motor, cognitive, vision, and hearing screenings to determine if further services are needed.

  • Training & Development Support:

Assist the Coordinator in training staff, ensuring personnel are equipped to administer Dial 3 screenings accurately.

  • Service Coordination:

Organize and monitor screening services across various sites, ensuring that screenings are conducted efficiently and meet site requirements.

  • Professional Development:

Attend workshops and training sessions as required by the district to stay updated on protocols and best practices.

  • Inventory Management:

Manage handouts and screening materials to ensure availability at all screening sites.

  • Resource Knowledge & Referral:

Maintain awareness of district and community resources for family referrals and make recommendations for additional support when necessary.

  • Family Consultation:

Provide follow-up and consultative support to families who receive screenings, communicating results and offering resources.

  • Liaison Duties:

Serve as a resource and point of contact for district personnel and community agencies, supporting the planning and development of child care services.

  • Other Duties:

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Relevant job-related experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in using standard office equipment and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge: Basic math, business telephone etiquette, and the ability to read and write documents accurately.
  • Abilities: Ability to schedule activities, work with diverse individuals, adapt to changing priorities, and manage tasks efficiently.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting, with some walking and standing.
  • Occasional lifting and handling of physical tasks associated with screening activities.
