New Product Development Engineer
Job Description
Our client (a large publicly traded company) is looking for a New Product Development Engineer to work in their corporate office in Texas. The New Product Development Engineer will be responsible for managing key projects involving the design, development, manufacturing, testing, sales / marketing of engineered plastics products. Candidate will manage and organize internal and external teams for new product development, and frequently interact with the Director of Sales / Marketing, Director of Quality, Director of Engineering and external clients.
Requirements and responsibilities:
- BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Polymer Science.
- Advanced degrees (MS / PHD) in Chemistry or Polymers would be helpful, but not required.
- 6 plus years of experience in plastics, plastics compounding, food packaging and films or polymer additives.
- Functional understanding of flexible and rigid packaging technology and film structures (PE, PET, OPP, basic barrier properties).
- Exposure to sustainable packaging solutions, material/package industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to lead the sales / market development effort and bring new products from concept through commercialization.
- Actively participates in assigned project teams. Acquires product information through market research and regional input to assure projects meet the needs of the intended markets.
- Identifies market trends, issues and competitive environment and forms strategic plans for product brand or sub-segment.
- Leads the effort to initiate new product strategies in the form of supporting existing brands and/or sub-segment and creating new products.
- Evaluates the needs of product marketing and sales personnel on a global basis and initiates strategies that meet regional and worldwide requirements.
- Works across multiple internal and external groups such as design, packaging and labeling, regulatory claims, advertising, sales force education.
- Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
