Strategic Sourcing Engineer
Job Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting new project RFQ, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization initiatives. This position works closely with R&D, engineering, operations, and global suppliers to secure competitive pricing, ensure supply continuity, and maintain high standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with commercial acumen to drive procurement excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management
- Lead the RFQ process for new product launches, conducting cost analysis and supplier negotiations to achieve optimal pricing while meeting technical and business requirements.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for metal and plastic components, tooling, and production equipment, ensuring alignment between engineering specifications and commercial objectives.
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to develop quarterly and annual procurement plans that support continuous cost-reduction initiatives.
- Manage day-to-day procurement activities and establish effective material management processes to support production requirements and inventory optimization.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, value engineering, and supply chain improvements while maintaining product quality and delivery performance.
B. Supplier Relationship & Process Management
- Lead supplier evaluation, selection, qualification, and onboarding activities to strengthen and continuously improve the supplier base.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, responsiveness, and long-term strategic collaboration.
- Maintain accurate supplier records, commercial agreements, pricing data, and procurement documentation.
- Manage procurement reconciliation and payment verification processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
- Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to monitor supplier performance, improve procurement efficiency, and support decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience, preferably involving metal and plastic components, tooling, or manufacturing equipment.
- Experience in the consumer electronics, electronics manufacturing, machinery, mechanical, or related industries is preferred.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and supplier organizations.
