Job Description
Job Title: School Bus Dispatcher
Department: Transportation
Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
PTO: 5 Sick days and 1 Personal day (per school year)
Hours: 1:00-5:00p.m. Monday-Friday, 185 days per year

Summary: As a School Bus Dispatcher, you’ll be responsible for dispatching school buses, scheduling routes, and performing general office duties. An ideal candidate will be very proficient with computers, possess professional communication skills, have an excellent attendance history and be a team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dispatching school buses and ensuring they are on time and on route.
- Scheduling routes and coordinating with drivers.
- Managing and updating transportation schedules.
- Maintain open communication with drivers, mechanics, and other staff.
- Answer phones and answer questions regarding routing and bus stops.
- Communicate in a timely manner to transportation staff regarding any changes to their daily route.
- Work with bus drivers and keep the routes accurate and correct.
- Assist with general office tasks
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- CDL Class B license, Michigan School Bus Driver Qualifications, licenses, and prior bus driving experience preferred. If necessary, paid training provided leading to the acquisition of a CDL.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to function positively under stress and severe time constraints.
- Good interpersonal relationship skills. Must be able to work well with students, parents, and co-workers.
- Experience in school transportation or related field preferred.
- Ability to learn and/or demonstrated ability in working with a computerized routing program.
- Thorough knowledge of district’s streets and all appropriate areas.
