Construction Estimator

Job Location: 12630 Beaverdale Road, West Burlington, Iowa.

FS, Inc. is seeking a Construction Estimator for civil construction to join our growing team. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and rewarding work environment. Candidate Responsibilities:

• Obtain all documents, plans, drawings, and specs to bid a project.
• Identify and quantify project requirements, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Effectively communicate with project managers, architects, engineers, clients and visit sites to gain a broad understanding of the project
• Ensure that bids are completed by the solicitation requirements and turned in on time
• Access risk assessment for potential deviation to the plan, specifically manpower and equipment availability
• Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and other service providers.
• Negotiate with suppliers and sub-tiers to create the most competitive and accurate bids
• Utilize construction estimating software and other relevant tools to streamline the estimating process.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
• Assist with project management.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs
• Proficient in blueprint / spec books and takeoffs
• Ability to read and understand contract documents.
• Organization skills
• Communication skills with a focus on collaboration with the inner office, field teams and clients
• Details to scheduling and time management
• Exceptional quantitative skills are a must

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forecasting experience
• Experience in the Iowa construction industry and knowledge of SUDAS and IDOT specifications
• B2W program experience
• Proposal writing skills

FS, Inc. offers a highly competitive salary and a benefit package to include:

• Annual Salary of $80,000 - $160,000, based on experience and qualifications
