What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute School Nurse position at Four Rivers Charter Public School?
OVERVIEW
Four Rivers is seeking outstanding candidates to work as Substitute School Nurse to support a strong health office serving our 220 students in grades 7-12. Four Rivers’ mission is to prepare our graduates for lives of learning and service. The school strives to help students develop important knowledge and skills, build strong character, become ethical people, and contribute to a better world.
Four Rivers looks to the School Nurse to help keep our students well. Mostly this involves physical wellness, but the nurse is a valued member of our student services team, looking out for the general well-being of all our students in all aspects of their lives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply appropriate nursing theory as the basis for decision-making in the school setting in response to student health needs.
- Provide direct clinical care including dispensing medications.
- Collaborate with other professionals, colleagues and community providers in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and other school health activities.
- Follow health plans associated with 504 Accommodation Plans.
- Manage medical records with accurate and precise record keeping.
- Follow protocols of the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Dept. of Public Health.
- Other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with middle and high school students
- Bachelor’s degree - preferred
- License, Massachusetts Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education
- License, Board of Registration in Nursing
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Minimal physical effort required in performing duties under typical office conditions.
Ability to operate a PC, keyboard and calculator at efficient speed and view computer screens for extended periods of time. Ability to sit, talk, hear, listen, stand, and walk. Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects weighing as much as 10 or more pounds on a frequent basis; ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently. Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance. Understand how to manage stress.
