HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
The Human Resources Assistant will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and support the broader HR and Recruiting team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for a motivated, people-oriented professional who is eager to grow within the HR field. The HR Assistant will play a hands-on role in supporting daily HR operations across a dynamic, fast-paced restaurant group, contributing to everything from onboarding and employee relations to culture initiatives and compliance. WHAT OUR HR ASSISTANT DOES:
- Supports the HR team in addressing initial employee relations issues and assists in documenting resolutions
- Assists with fact-finding and administrative support during employee investigations as directed
- Collaborates with the Benefits team to help communicate open enrollment deadlines and gather required employee information
- Assists in maintaining and updating the employee handbook, helping track new state and federal requirements as communicated by the HR team
- Supports compliance efforts by helping maintain accurate documentation and ensuring records align with federal, state, and local employment regulations
- Partners with the Recruiting team to support the execution of the company’s recruiting strategy, including reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
- Attends job fairs as a brand ambassador when needed
- Assists the health and safety team with administrative support for workplace safety initiatives and committee coordination
- Supports the annual employee survey process, including distribution, data collection, and helping analyze results
- Participates in the company’s Council on Culture committee and assists with DEI initiatives and programming
- Assists in developing HR-related reports and helps ensure accurate data is compiled and delivered in partnership with the HR and finance teams
- Supports company culture initiatives such as the anniversary program, employee gatherings, and events
- Performs other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE OUR HR ASSISTANT:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Psychology, or a related field; or 1–2 years of relevant HR or administrative experience
- Genuine enthusiasm for the HR profession and a desire to grow into a generalist role
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hospitality, or retail environment strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to follow through accurately and thoroughly
- A self-starter who takes initiative and doesn’t wait to be told what to do next
- Genuinely curious and eager to learn
- Outgoing, poised, and approachable with the confidence to engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Tech-savvy and comfortable picking up new tools; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Adaptable and comfortable pivoting quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Passionate about people and excited about the role HR plays in building a great workplace
- Interested in all facets of Human Resources, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and culture
- Graceful under pressure with the ability to stay composed and professional in tense or sensitive situations
- A strong and attentive listener who makes employees feel heard and respected
- Able to travel to restaurant locations in DC, MD, VA, and PA as needed
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
