Position Overview
- Position: Banquet Setup Supervisor
- Pay Range: $19.00–$20.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
- Location: The Founders Inn & Spa – Virginia Beach, VA
- Schedule: Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
What You'll Do
As our Banquet Setup Supervisor, you will lead the behind-the-scenes preparation that brings our events to life. You'll work closely with our Banquet, Catering, and Convention Services teams to ensure every event space is prepared, polished, and ready to exceed guest expectations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead by Example: Supervise, train, motivate, and support the banquet setup team to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Create Exceptional Event Spaces: Oversee the setup and breakdown of weddings, banquets, meetings, conferences, and special events according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and hotel standards.
- Ensure Every Detail Is Right: Inspect event spaces for cleanliness, accuracy, presentation, and readiness before guests arrive.
- Coordinate Daily Operations: Prepare work assignments, delegate responsibilities, and manage setup schedules to ensure events are completed on time.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with Banquet Management, Catering Sales, Convention Services, and Stewarding to deliver seamless event experiences.
- Maintain Operational Excellence: Monitor equipment, furniture, linens, supplies, and storage areas to ensure proper inventory and organization.
- Develop Your Team: Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and support while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional communication.
- Solve Problems Proactively: Anticipate operational challenges, respond to last-minute changes, and find solutions that keep events running smoothly.
- Promote Safety and Quality: Ensure proper handling of equipment, safe setup procedures, and compliance with hotel policies and safety standards.
- Support the Team: Remain actively involved in event setup, breakdown, and cleaning duties as operational needs require.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a dependable hospitality professional who combines strong organizational skills with a passion for leadership and exceptional guest service.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in banquet operations, event setup, hospitality, or a related field; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of banquet room configurations, event setup standards, and BEOs.
- Ability to coordinate multiple events and manage changing priorities.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with banquet setup, including moving equipment, arranging furniture, and remaining active throughout scheduled shifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
