POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wellness Coach is responsible for providing guidance, motivation, and support to YMCA members in achieving their health and wellness goals. This role includes conducting fitness orientations, developing personalized wellness plans, monitoring progress, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes healthy living.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct fitness orientations for new and existing members.
- Educate members on proper exercise techniques, equipment usage, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of wellness areas and equipment.
- Promote YMCA programs and services that support member wellness goals.
- Build positive relationships with members to encourage regular participation.
- Respond to member inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of fitness equipment and safety protocols preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior customer service or fitness experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to speak and write concisely and effectively communicate needs.
- Ability to view computer monitor and enter data for long periods of time.
- Work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
