Position Overview
At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), we are seeking a motivated and quick-learning IT Intern to join our IT Department. This internship is designed to give a Computer Science student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of IT, including software development, process automation and data workflows. The ideal candidate should be open to team collaboration, and be a highly motivated self-starter who can work both as part of a team and independently.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and testing of internal tools using Python, Java, or JavaScript
- Participate in the design and implementation of RPA workflows to automate repetitive business tasks
- Learn and apply automation platforms such as Power Automate and UiPath
- Support QA testing across various IT initiatives
- Assist with documentation and version control practices
- Use tools like Git to manage and track code changes
- Work with APIs and data sources to support reporting, integrations, and dashboards
- Attend daily stand-ups and sprint planning meetings following Agile/Scrum practices
- Contribute to process improvement discussions and team brainstorming sessions
- Collaborate with team members using tools such as Jira
- Learn new technologies, tools, and frameworks as required for project work

- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Ability to think analytically and should be a problem solver
- Ability to operate calmly in a high-pressure environment
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
- Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or C
- Comfortable working with both front-end and back-end logic
- Interest in automation, system design, or enterprise software development
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and ask questions
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
- Base: $23 per hour
