We are seeking a seasoned Construction Manager to oversee vertical construction projects within the concourse and terminal areas at our client site in Santa Ana, California. This role is a full-time onsite role and will support both new construction and renovation efforts, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations.

Job Responsibilities Will Include

  • Overseeing field and construction activities that includes, as needed and approved by our client, construction coordinators and other CM support staff. Varies extensively depending on the degree of our client's construction contract oversight activity.
  • Performs QC checks on their own work product and that of their staff.
  • Assist APM, PM and CDPM in change management & scope development.
  • Liaison between contractors and internal field stakeholders (i.e. Maintenance, Operations, Security, etc.).
  • Attend Contractor Progress meetings, punch walks, mockup reviews, etc.
  • Verifying the construction contractors' mobilization schedules including recommendations to APM for approval of contractual requirements before issuance of Notice to Proceed.
  • Has a detailed knowledge of the preparation, updating, and maintenance of the project schedule(s). This will include an overall schedule and/or individual schedules, as required, to track design review activities, procurement activities and construction activities.
  • Coordinate with the Program/Project Manager in collaboration with pre-construction and design teams to review plans & information related to constructability and all costs involved in developing the project's execution.
  • Managing quality services related to oversight and supervision of construction contractors' quality control services, including, at a minimum, confirmation that the standards required by the contract are met.
  • Reviewing, adapting as necessary, and monitoring construction safety programs.
  • Leading periodic construction meetings, and additional meetings if needed, to resolve issues impacting cost and schedule.
  • Working with our client's Environmental Officer to monitor compliance with all environmental requirements.
  • Overseeing construction monitoring and associated reporting as required to confirm Contractor compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Ensures that project site and company assets are secure and maintain a safe and respectful working environment at all times by coordinating with ROCIP team, safety and risk management teams.
  • Provides input to monthly pay-application reviews so the APM and CDPM can finalize the billing.
  • Review Daily Construction Reports prepared by construction coordinators and weekly work plans to achieve schedule compliance.
  • Supports the contract change order review process, including review of contractor estimates, negotiate change orders, and assist APM to obtain required approvals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on vertical building projects
  • Demonstrated aviation-related construction experience, including work on or around airport terminals and improvement projects
  • Ability to successfully pass a TSA criminal background check
  • Strong understanding of environmental codes and regulatory requirements relevant to airport construction
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, or SharePoint
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards, and ability to interpret design documents and contract specifications
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.

Certifications Desired, But Not Required

  • CCM (Certified Construction Manager)
  • P6 Proficiency

Work Environment

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery & mechanical parts, uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to loud noise, and outside weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent unassisted sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, pushing and lifting is required. Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time for at least eight hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, ability to walk on uneven ground while physically maneuvering construction sites, ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity, and potentially work at heights.

Other Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected. Short term, out of town, assignments may be required. Long term, out of town, assignments may be required, with advance notice of planned dates.
  • May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet client's needs, including nights, overtime and weekends.
