Job Overview
- Develop, track, and report key Safety KPIs (such as Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Time Injury Rate, near-miss frequency, training completion rates, audit compliance scores, LOTO compliance, PPE adherence, etc.).
- Analyze safety data and trends across all 25 yards to identify improvement opportunities.
- Present monthly and quarterly safety KPI reports to senior leadership and yard managers.
- Set realistic safety targets and implement action plans to achieve continuous improvement in safety performance.
- New Hire Safety Orientation:
- Conduct or oversee comprehensive safety orientation for all new hires at every yard, covering company policies, hazards, PPE, emergency procedures, and site-specific risks.
- Annual Training Programs:
- Plan, schedule, and deliver yearly machinery license and safety refresher training for all equipment operators (forklifts, loaders, shredders, balers, etc.).
- Ensure all operators maintain current certifications and licenses as required.
- Monthly Safety Training:
- Design and conduct engaging monthly safety training sessions for all employees across all shifts.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS), facility emergency maps (emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first aid stations, etc.), and required safety postings at every yard.
- Keep accurate records of all training, audits, incidents, and certifications.
- Site Visits & Audits:
- Regularly visit all 25 yards to perform safety audits, inspections, and behavioral observations.
- Prioritize shredder yards with 1–2 visits per week, covering all shifts (day, evening, and night).
- Focus on high-risk areas including LOTO, PPE usage, machinery safety, and emergency readiness.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries; prepare reports and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Use findings to improve safety programs and reduce future risks.
- Program Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and enforce company-wide safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with yard managers to quickly resolve safety issues.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and best practices in the recycling industry.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on safety experience in recycling, waste management, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments (shredder experience strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to develop, track, and drive improvement using Safety KPIs.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, LOTO, PPE, SDS, first aid, and machinery operator training requirements.
- Experience conducting new hire safety orientations, monthly training, and annual machinery licensing/refresher training.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills with the ability to turn metrics into actionable plans.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across all 25 yards and work flexible hours to cover all shifts.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies across all sites to ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, NEC (National Electrical Code), workers' compensation regulations, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on construction sites and operational facilities to identify hazards related to construction management, occupational health, and EHS (Environmental Health & Safety).
- Lead risk management efforts by analyzing potential hazards, implementing mitigation strategies, and maintaining comprehensive incident records.
- Coordinate safety training sessions for employees on topics such as OSHA compliance, construction site safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.
- Manage compliance management systems using construction management software to track safety metrics, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure construction management best practices are followed during all phases of projects.
- Respond promptly to safety incidents or violations, conducting investigations and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction management or overseeing safety operations within multi-site industrial or construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation processes, NEC standards, and occupational health practices.
- Demonstrated ability in risk management, compliance management, and implementing EHS programs effectively across diverse locations.
- Familiarity with construction site experience including safety protocols specific to active construction zones.
- Proficiency in using construction management software for safety tracking and reporting.
