Director of Finance and Decision Support
Position Summary
The Director of Finance and Decision Support leads the hospital’s Accounting, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Payroll, and Decision Support functions, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, safeguarding assets, and providing data-driven insights to support executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily finance operations, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP and healthcare regulations
- Manage the general ledger and lead timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and regulatory reports, including Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and short-term investments
- Lead audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
- Partner with operational and clinical leaders to drive financial performance and decision-making
- Develop and enforce financial policies, controls, and best practices
- Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team
- Communicate financial results, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or equivalent healthcare finance experience
- 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including hospital or healthcare finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and healthcare financial regulations
- Experience overseeing core finance functions (GL, AP, Payroll, Treasury, budgeting/reporting)
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, StrataJazz)
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or Business
- Experience in a $100M health system
- Knowledge of 340B, reimbursement, and cost reporting
- Experience with financial dashboards, KPIs, and system implementations
