Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Refrigeration Technician to take on a leadership role in training, mentoring, and developing the next generation of technicians. Seasoned professionals, particularly those who are retired or semi-retired, will find this an ideal opportunity to stay engaged in the industry while making a meaningful impact by guiding our technical team. As a Trainer and Mentor, you will lead hands-on instruction and provide technical guidance in the field to help establish best practices for safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship. Flexible scheduling is available, and the role can be structured as part-time or full-time based on your availability. The primary focus is knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and providing high-level technical support rather than heavy fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level refrigeration technicians through hands-on instruction and job-site coaching
- Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair techniques for commercial and/or industrial refrigeration systems
- Develop and deliver structured training programs, including safety procedures and technical skills development
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex service issues and escalated calls
- Evaluate technician performance and provide constructive feedback and development plans
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, EPA regulations, and company policies
- Assist in onboarding new hires and supporting their technical growth
- Stay current with evolving refrigeration technologies, tools, and industry standards
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in refrigeration (commercial and/or industrial preferred)
- EPA certification required; additional certifications are a plus
- Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing refrigeration systems, including controls and electrical components
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or leading a team preferred
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for learners of varying skill levels
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
