Role Description
This is a part-time, hybrid position for a Legal Counsel located in Arlington, VA. The Legal Counsel will report directly to the President of Fortress, and primarily focus on contract negotiations, as well as provide strategic business and legal guidance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technology transactional work and a solid understanding of US privacy laws and laws related to mobile payments.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including complex sales and services agreements, platform integrations, sponsorship agreements, portal agreements, hardware and software licensing agreements.
- Provide advice on legal issues and risks to all levels of the company including operations, sales and marketing, finance and business development.
- Offer legal support for the company’s expanding international operations.
- Assist in other general transactional and corporate matters as necessary.
Qualifications
- 5 years of prior experience, preferably in transactional work for a technology company or sports team.
- Experience drafting and negotiating client agreements related to hardware and software licensing, mobile payments, privacy and security.
- Demonstrated experience advising clients in structuring complex commercial transactions and compliance.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects at a time under deadline.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Juris doctor degree and admitted to at least one state bar.
