Project Manager – Design (Data Center Construction)

We are partnering with a leading construction consultancy supporting major hyperscale and enterprise clients to appoint a Project Manager – Design focused on Data Center developments.

This role is centered on leading the design phase of mission-critical projects, ensuring seamless coordination between stakeholders while maintaining alignment with client objectives, technical standards, and delivery timelines.

Position Overview

The Project Manager will take ownership of the design lifecycle, driving coordination across architects, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure clarity, consistency, and constructability across all design outputs.

Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will manage either full project scopes or key workstreams, acting as the critical link between client, design teams, and construction delivery. Alongside project responsibilities, you will also contribute to broader business functions including team development, financial oversight, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface between the client and the design/project delivery teams
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of the design phase across multiple data center projects
  • Oversee design documentation workflows using platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud or Procore
  • Manage and maintain structured design file systems and ensure compliance across all partners
  • Drive design schedule management, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and regular updates
  • Track design deliverables including packages, scopes, and technical narratives
  • Ensure alignment across multiple project streams, incorporating lessons learned and value engineering opportunities
  • Facilitate coordination between architects, engineers of record (EOR), subcontractors, and general contractors
  • Lead design and coordination meetings, ensuring clear actions and accountability
  • Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and site coordination with A&E teams
  • Review and interpret design intent, basis of design (BOD), and technical documentation
  • Manage change processes, including cost-impacting design revisions and PCO evaluations
  • Oversee QA/QC processes for design deliverables, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Support tenant or end-user design integration where required

Project Lifecycle Involvement

  • Preconstruction: Support design team assembly, manage design coordination, contribute to scheduling, constructability reviews, budgeting, procurement strategy, and permitting
  • Construction: Oversee contractor coordination, procurement tracking, risk management, QA/QC, and schedule adherence
  • Closeout: Ensure project completion aligns with design intent, specifications, and client expectations

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver project reporting aligned with client requirements
  • Mentor junior team members or support staff where applicable
  • Collaborate internally to drive performance, consistency, and knowledge sharing
  • Identify opportunities to enhance project outcomes and deliver added value to the client

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a proactive and technically strong Project Manager who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and can confidently lead design coordination on large-scale projects.

  • Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10 years’ experience across the full construction lifecycle, ideally including mission-critical or complex infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of design management, coordination, and technical documentation
  • Experience working with digital platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or similar
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive alignment across teams
  • Strong commercial awareness, including exposure to cost, contracts, and change management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities
