Summary/objective
The Clinical Assistant delivers high-quality clinical and administrative support within a high-volume orthopedic practice. They provide direct support to an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder injuries, sports medicine, and joint replacement. This position is responsible for a wide variety of clinical and clerical duties ensuring efficient clinic operations, coordinated patient care, and optimal workflow in a fast-paced environment.
Essential functions

- Assists patients to/from clinic areas
- Assist physicians during office visits
- Scribe patient information into the EMR system
- Retrieve patient information from EMR system
- Conduct preliminary patient evaluations
- Communicate information with patients as directed by physician
- Provide appropriate patient education regarding injuries
- Manage and prioritize phone calls and electronic communication
- Schedule patient testing
- Obtain prior authorizations

Travel required
- Some travel required to various Forté locations in the Indianapolis area
Required Education and Experience
- Previous experience working in a physician office in a clinical capacity
Preferred Certifications
- Orthopedic or Sports Medicine experience is preferred
- Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Athletic Trainer strongly preferred
- Blood draw experience is preferred
- Five (5) years of clinical assistant experience is preferred
Work environment
- This position is performed in a typical, professional medical office setting

- Continuous walking, standing, speaking, listening, computer use, phone use
- Occasional sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds
