Essential Job Functions
Own Regional Instructional Quality and Student Outcomes
- Owns student achievement outcomes and instructional quality across all schools in the region, with explicit responsibility for closing achievement gaps for all student groups.
- Translates district instructional expectations into daily classroom execution across the region; ensures consistent rigor and non-negotiable instructional practices.
- Uses evidence (student performance, instructional implementation data, school performance indicators, and leading indicators) to drive fast problem-solving and corrective action at the campus and regional level.
- Supervises and hold EDILs accountable for rigorous principal supervision, coaching, and development that results in measurable improvement in teacher practice and student outcomes.
- Ensures principals implement the district curriculum/high-quality instructional materials, pacing expectations, assessment practices, intervention/MTSS, and professional learning consistently and with urgency.
- Identifies performance gaps quickly and require immediate corrective action; remove barriers and end practices that lead to chronic underperformance.
- Holds principals accountable for school performance across the region, including student achievement, instructional quality, culture, attendance, and operational readiness.
- Requires timely, decisive HR actions when school leadership performance does not improve; ensures improvement plans are real, observable, and time-bound, supported by evidence in classrooms and outcomes.
- Builds a deep bench of school leaders by developing, selecting, and retaining effective principals and principal supervisors.
- Supervises and hold the Senior Executive Director accountable for regional operational readiness to enable high-quality instruction in every classroom, including the coordinated execution of HR, IT, Operations, Facilities, Finance, Transportation, Child Nutrition, Safety, and other central office functions.
- Ensures rapid resolution of school-impacting issues (staffing actions, technology issues, facility readiness, procurement/budget support, scheduling, and other operational barriers) that disrupt instructional delivery.
- Removes cross-functional barriers between academics and operations; ensure principals experience central office as a service organization with clear owners, fast cycle times, and reliable follow-through.
- Ensures consistent instructional rigor, access to effective teaching, and high expectations across all campuses in the region, regardless of student demographics or historical performance.
- Drives targeted acceleration strategies and resource alignment for campuses and student groups that are persistently underperforming.
- Ensures region-level decisions and practices do not permit variability in expectations that results in predictable gaps for emergent bilingual students, students receiving special education services, and other student groups.
- Executes the district's performance management cadence that is evidence-based and action-oriented, focused on instructional quality, student outcomes, principal effectiveness, and operational service levels.
- Ensures region staff time and school time are protected from low-impact initiatives, over-processing, and compliance-only work; prioritize actions that change classroom instruction and student learning.
- Monitors implementation quality, identifies root causes, and adjusts quickly; ensures "support" is defined by measurable changes in practice and results.
- Ensures regional work is compliant with federal and state law, TEA requirements, Board policy, and district procedures; protects instructional time while meeting compliance obligations.
- Maintains ethical conduct, confidentiality, and responsible stewardship of district resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent and/or Superintendent.
- Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff, and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

- Education:
- Master's degree in Education or a closely related field required;
- Doctorate degree preferred.
- Certification/License:
- Eligible for a Valid Texas Mid-Management and/or Principal Certification. Attainment of certification within six months is a condition of continued employment;
- Attainment of T-TESS and T-PESS Certification within six months is a condition of continued employment.
- Experience:
- Minimum of three years of exemplary teaching experience.
- Minimum of five years of successful experience as a principal, director, or other similar district supervisory role.
