**Job Summary**
FVRLibraries is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Facilities Maintenance Technician serves as technical lead within the Facilities and Fleet Division, performing complex and specialized work across multiple trades in maintenance, repair, and improvement of library buildings, systems, and grounds. This role exercises independent judgement to diagnose, prioritize and complete tasks at a journey-level standard in areas such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. The position also leads technical projects, develops procedures, supports preventative maintenance planning, and provides technical guidance, training, and oversight to facilities staff to support safe, efficient, and consistent operations.
The Essential Functions Of This Position Include
Provide expert, responsive, and professional support to library staff and departments by addressing facilities needs promptly and effectively, including after-hours response to urgent building or systems issues.
Communicate proactively about work being performed, coordinate activities to minimize disruption to library operations, and ensure that facilities operations align with safety, accessibility and patron experience standards.
Mechanical Systems. Inspect, test and service kitchen equipment, pumps, compressors, generators, HVAC, lighting, fire and life safety systems, and related mechanical infrastructure. Identify root causes of system failures and implement effective corrective measures.
Electrical Systems. Troubleshoot, upgrade and maintain existing electrical fixtures and equipment; install and configure fixtures, switches, outlets and lighting systems. Ensure compliance with code and safety standards.
Inspections. Conduct comprehensive facility assessments and document findings, including evaluation of building envelope, HVAC, lighting, parking, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, and interior finishes.
Carpentry and Structural Work. Construct, install, and restore building elements such as roofs, siding, floors, walls, windows, shelves, cabinetry, and fixtures. Evaluate repair options and recommend appropriate materials and methods.
Interior and Exterior Finishes. Prepare and refinish a variety of surfaces; apply coatings, repair finishes and restore appearance and function of interior and exterior components. Maintain exterior safety and aesthetics, including parking lots, landscaping and access routes.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee facilities projects, including developing scopes of work, assisting with contracts, and monitoring the work of contractors and inspectors to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance.
Develop, implement and refine maintenance standards, schedules, and practices; evaluate facility systems; and recommend improvements to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent operations.
Support the library's after-hours response to urgent building issues, alarms, and system failures. Provide assessment, coordination, and communication to ensure timely resolution and continuity of library operations, in collaboration with the facilities team and vendors.
