Summary: The Environmental Operations Manager is responsible for identifying project goals, objectives, maintaining, creating and implementing plans, outlines tasks, timelines, and resources required to suffice grant requirements for the Environmental Protection, Health Programs and Emergency Response. Organize and prioritize responsibilities for projects on time, within scope and budget with desired outcomes aligned to grant objectives to report quarterly and yearly. Must be able to provide advocacy on behalf of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe while working with other tribal, county, state, and government partners.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including the following but not limited to):

  • Administrative Management: Read, write, comprehend, and complete government EPA, Public Health Preparedness and Emergency Management documents and follow directions from government reporting agencies.
  • Complete grant forms, implementing grant activities and tasks, monitoring field applied programs, reporting activities to reporting agencies.
  • Responsible for meeting reporting agency time constraints and continuance of grant programs.
  • Must be able to manage and supervise contractors and Emergency Operations Center staff.
  • A willingness to remain committed and dedicated to the completion of tasks in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn Tribal, State, and Federal Regulations that may impact environmental issues.
  • Workshop/Training Requirements: Must be available for frequent locally, regionally, and on occasions out of state for essential grant program training to complete current program requirements.
  • Capable of implementing workshop/training to local program activities.
  • Liaison Duties: Represent the Tribe at local area program meetings, program activities at county, state, and regional activities.
  • Capable of providing written or verbal reports as Tribal liaison at those events or to Tribal Council.
  • Community and Field Outreach: Implement outreach program activities in the community.
  • Investigating reported environmental, public health or emergency management incidents and issues corrective measures for hazardous spills.
  • Schedule monthly educational material for departments and community.
  • Be available to plan and manage community outreach activities from start to finish.
  • Equipment and Inventories: Works with DER/EPA support worker to maintain environmental, Public Health and Emergency Management equipment with updated inventories.
  • Order and maintain specified level of environmental, public health and emergency supplies.
  • Operations Duties: Develop and manage detailed project schedule and work plans.
  • Provide project updates, adjustments, and new projects on a consistent basis.
  • Participates regularly in community related projects and events (during and outside of normal business hours).
  • Builds and maintains a good working relationship with tribal members, tribal dignitaries, and all other partners.
  • Must be flexible in arrangement of work schedule (upon department/community needs).
  • Must be be able to work out of the office, to include home/department deliveries r other community/department activities.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays in the event of and active emergency.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Associate's degree in environmental management or business, preferred.
  • Willing to obtain college level general education courses, preferred.

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years or more work equivalent experience in Program and/or Office Management.
  • Must be willing to work with Tribes and advocate on behalf of tribes while working with counties, states, and federal government agencies.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Must have the ability to obtain FEMA Emergency Management Educational Certifications in IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 as well as Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification for exercise planning with 6 months of hire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
