Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Senior Environmental Scientist/Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Responsibilities include project management, executing technical assignments, planning and managing projects, and managing junior staff in coordination with the Principal and other Project Managers/CEMs. Assignments require sound professional judgement, quality assurance and safety oversight, technical expertise, and adherence to applicable regulations and guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with team members, clients, and stakeholders
- Collect, synthesize, analyze, manage, and report on environmental samples and associated data
- Prepare data summaries, charts, and graphs to support interpretation and reporting
- Author and review technical reports and deliverables in accordance with regulatory standards and guidance
- Apply environmental regulations, policies, guidelines, and technical standards to project work
- Lead project management activities, including project planning and prioritization, resource allocation and tracking, task assignments, and project coordination
- Create and implement project work plans; adjust as needed to meet project objectives
- Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized project documentation
- Track and report time and expenses daily
- Prepare and manage project budgets, including revenue tracking, invoicing, and receivables
- Ensure project documents (e.g., proposals, contracts, work orders, permits, authorizations, and similar documents) are executed and maintained in compliance with company policy
- Lead proposal development including scope definition and cost estimating
- Facilitate effective team, client, and public meetings
- Identify lessons learned and share best practices with team members
- Support business development efforts with existing and prospective clients
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in overseeing Field Work and performing technical Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- In-depth knowledge of relevant Environmental Science, Regulations, and Guidance Documents
- Experience in Environmental Consulting, with the ability to provide expert guidance and recommendations to clients
- Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) designation or current ability to obtain Nevada certification
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively collaborate with diverse, interdisciplinary teams
- Experience engaging and managing vendors and subcontractors (e.g. drillers, laboratories, suppliers, other consultants)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field
- Certifications in Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint, Radon, MSHA, etc., are preferred
