Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Support & Implementation
- Design and develop content-based language instruction (CBLI) learning experiences to support the implementation of curriculum
- Collaborate with content area curriculum team members to design content-based language instruction (CBLI) techniques and strategies within the written curriculum
- Create exemplars in the curriculum to support emergent bilingual (EB) students with content and language acquisition
- Provide support for the implementation of Bilingual/ESL programs
- Collaborate with district and campus administrators to provide feedback regarding the implementation of content-based language instruction (CBLI)
- Train and support teachers to align instructional supports with linguistic accommodations
- Facilitate the use of local and state assessment data to determine student progress, make instructional and programmatic decisions, and to evaluate curricular needs
- Attend state and national workshops/conferences and serve on committees to advance content-based language instruction (CBLI)
- Design, coordinate, and conduct professional learning and presentations for teachers, district personnel, parents, and other stakeholders to support best practices for instruction of EB students
- Collaborate to develop and administer a budget based on alignment to district priorities and ensure that operations are cost effective and managed wisely
- Monitor the implementation of content-based language instruction (CBLI) through program walk-throughs
- Advise in the selection and purchase of professional development consultants and instructional resources to support EB students
- Evaluate the implementation of content-based language instruction (CBLI) using multiple data points including program walkthroughs, local and state student performance data
- Develop and/or update required district documents including the District improvement plan and strategic plan
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies
- Assist in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of assigned staff
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Provide leadership and direction to campus based contacts to support implementation of programs to support Language Learners
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of curriculum to support Language Learners to ensure alignment to the District’s mission and vision

- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Educaiton Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment
- Valid Texas ESL Certification and/or valid Bilingual certification
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a classroom teacher for emergent bilingual students (bilingual or ESL program)
- Minimum of 2 years experience in instructional leadership at campus or district level specific to supporting emergent bilingual students
- Demonstrated knowledge in Bilingual (including dual language) and ESL programs, pedagogy and effective instructional practices to support emergent bilingual students
- Trained in content-based language instruction (CBLI)
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the implementation of district initiatives
- Demonstrated knowledge in curriculum, instruction, and assessment development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing

Additional Information
- This position requires travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends.
- This position is grant funded through Title 3. This position may be discontinued if funds are no longer available.
