Role Description The Orthodontic Assistant is a full-time, on-site role located in Newport, RI. This position supports the orthodontist in providing chairside assistance during procedures such as placing and adjusting braces, Invisalign-related tasks, and routine orthodontic visits. Daily responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, organizing and sterilizing instruments, taking and recording patient information, and assisting with impressions, X-rays, and photos as permitted by state regulations. The role also involves educating patients on proper oral hygiene and appliance care, scheduling or confirming appointments, and maintaining accurate documentation in patient records. The Orthodontic Assistant works closely with the clinical and front office teams to ensure efficient workflow and a welcoming environment for patients.

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Dental Care and Dentistry, with the ability to support routine orthodontic procedures.
- Knowledge of Orthodontics, including braces and clear aligner treatments, and comfort working in an orthodontic practice setting.
- Experience with Sterilization protocols and infection control practices in a dental or orthodontic environment.
- Dental Assisting skills, including chairside support, patient preparation, and basic clinical documentation.
- Graduate of a recognized dental assisting program or equivalent on-the-job experience; orthodontic assisting experience preferred.
- Current dental assisting license and certifications required by the state of Rhode Island (e.g., radiology certification, if applicable).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient comfort and clear instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting, demonstrate attention to detail, and follow established protocols.
