Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a team of operators to operate and maintain the C/A-EDC unit in an environmentally sound and safe manner, and ensuring that we maximize production and minimize production cost. Ensure that we train operators to handle all process situations and ensure that all jobs are done as safely as possible.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Manage and Lead: Assign the operators to their areas of responsibility weekly. Monitor their work tasks daily by review of the log sheets and checklist. Handle any conflicts whether operational or personal that develops. Be clear and precise on the communications to your employee. Obtain feedback to ensure Operator understands the communication. Have the ability to make timely decisions as pertain to matter of the employees.
Operations: Assess the Operations of the plant by review of the log sheets, logbook notes, PI trends and DCS readings. Attend the Monday-Friday Daily Operations meeting with Management staff. Make decisions and actions to the plant operations to ensure continually good environmental and safety practices. Environment, health and safety is a priority in decision over operation rate. Be able to take proper operational step during Nights and weekend should situations arise. Stay up to date on and alert on troubleshooting the process operations of the plant.
Facilitate the Fulfillment of Work Orders: Gather and collect the daily/weekly/monthly checklist. Review the checklist for abnormal. Flag abnormals and relay them to the Operation Staff people (Day Supervisors / Managers). Use the logbook to communicate abnormals. Attend the daily Monday-Friday Daily Operations meeting with the Maintenance group to go over the daily Maintenance items. Bring up any additional comments.
Staff Development: Evaluate the Contractor operators from the Training and Development center. Ensure the Operators are doing their LITMOS Safety training and LITMOS SOP training. Ensure the Operators are doing their Memo, Read, and Sign. Encourage the Operators to work together and develop teamwork. Encourage the Operators to be the best they can be and to strive for excellence and professionalism.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
- Previous Related Experience Required
A minimum of (5) years' experience in Chemical/Petrochemical Operations as a Chemical Operator (C/A, EDC, HCl, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Hypo, Caustic preferred)
Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
Must be familiar with implementing all environmental health and safety procedures that pertain to C/A, HCI, Bleach, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Caustic operations.
- Must be knowledgeable with computers and basic software
- Preferred have working knowledge of the CIA, EDC, HCI, Bleach, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Caustic processes.
- Preferred have a good working knowledge of the C/A, EDC, HCI, Bleach, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Caustic DCS. Must be able to understand critical lab result data pertaining to process control points and environmental control points in the C/A, EDC, HCI, Bleach, Hydrogen, Chlorine processes.
Preferred to be familiar with all C/A, EDC, HCI, Bleach, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Caustic SOP's
Education
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of direct job-related experience required, with a process chemical operator course preferred.
Other Certification/Training Required
Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.

current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
