The Customer Service Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional sales support, technical consultation, and after-sales service to clients, ensuring their specific requirements are accurately captured and communicated to the engineering and production teams. This role focuses on bridging sales, customer relationship management, and hands-on engineering expertise within the sheet metal industry to optimize customer satisfaction, product quality, and operational efficiency.

The Customer Service Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional sales support, technical consultation, and after-sales service to clients, ensuring their specific requirements are accurately captured and communicated to the engineering and production teams. This role focuses on bridging sales, customer relationship management, and hands-on engineering expertise within the sheet metal industry to optimize customer satisfaction, product quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire new customers and integrate requirements into Forma-Fab systems and processes.
- Provide technical support through phone, email, remote access, and onsite visits.
- Use Global Shop ERP to manage customer history and process control.
- Assist with design control and process improvements leveraging Forma-Fab capabilities.
- Train customers and end-users on Forma-Fab standards and product testing.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Sales teams to resolve recurring issues.
- Recommend upgrades, modifications, or preventive maintenance to optimize performance.
- Stay current with product knowledge, tools, and industry best practices.
- Lead the customer service team and ensure compliance with safety, company, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of sheet metal design and process experience.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s in engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-5 years in manufacturing techniques and Lean Manufacturing; strong knowledge of BOM processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and communication skills; strong customer service.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ERP/CRM systems for service tracking
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, Six Sigma, ITIL)
- Sheet Metal experience preferred but not required
Work Environment
- Mix of office, and on-site work; travel and occasional extended hours required
