Position Summary: Responsible for reviewing all documents provided within a request for quote (RFQ) in order to develop a cost-based selling price for said part/program that meets company profit objectives. Tools to create winning bids include using industry best practice machining methods, cut-time calculators, CAM software, and ERP systems. Success is measured by quote turnaround time, quote-hit rate, and job profitability.

Essential Functions
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Creates project schedule and production launch plan and specifications; calculates time requirements; sequencing project elements
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information trends
- Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data
- Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate manufacturing cost estimates for machining, tooling, and gauging costs. Preparing cost estimates for use in pricing and selecting vendors or subcontractors
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project deliverables and customer requirements
- Track projects throughout its course and recommend budget adjustments
- Work with engineers to interpret blueprints or conceptual drawings
- Calculate standard labor hours necessary to produce units or to complete the project
- Achieve all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements
- Identify engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented
- Predict the expense of future projects or products by analyzing monetary costs and other factors
- Aid management in bidding on or determining the price of a product or service
- Post-high school Technical education (two to a four-year degree) in Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, related field, or equivalent related work experience
- Two to three years of experience estimating in a custom manufacturing environment
- Must have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset
- In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
- Must possess outstanding communication skills and negotiation abilities
- Effective Interpersonal skills with employees, managers, customers and as well in a team setting
- Ability to work in AutoCAD
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings
- Well organized, with attention to detail, good computer skills with email, MS Office Suite, MS Project, and ERP system
