Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Structural Engineer and Detailer role based in Lowell, MA and/or Brewster, MA. The Structural Engineer and Detailer is responsible for performing structural analyses and calculations to support facility design, equipment supports, platforms, and building modifications in a biotech manufacturing environment. Day-to-day tasks include preparing detailed structural drawings and models using CAD software, coordinating with civil and mechanical engineers, and ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements. The role involves reviewing design documents, responding to field conditions, supporting construction and installation activities, and maintaining accurate documentation for regulatory and internal compliance. The individual will collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and operations staff to deliver practical, cost-effective, and robust structural solutions for new and existing infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to industrial and biotech-related facilities.
• Proficiency in Structural Analysis and engineering calculations, including load assessment, member design, and code compliance review.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for structural detailing, modeling, and preparation of construction-ready drawings. Solidworks and Autdesk Products.
• The ability to interface and collaborate with construction teams including builders, architects, and owners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; advanced degree or professional licensure (EIT/PE) must be on the horizon or already complete.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI) and experience working with industrial or laboratory facilities preferred.
• Proficiency in steel detailing, structural design following AISC standards, and welding details conforming to AWS D1.1.
• Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and process drawings and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work on-site in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.
• Must have field experience and a construction background; a purely academic background will not be considered.
