We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing company looking for a Cost Accountant to join their Spartanburg, SC location. This role focuses heavily on inventory, plant spending, standard cost, and variance analysis. This is a great opportunity to partner with plant leadership to drive financial accuracy and cost discipline.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure accurate valuation of plant inventories and physical assets (inventory and PP&E); prepare and reconcile related balance sheet accounts monthly
- Prepare weekly and monthly analyses of variable and fixed spending; present and explain variances to plant leadership
- Build bills of materials (BOMs) and cost sheets for new products
- Support the development of the annual plant budget for fixed spending
- Complete month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and analytical review
- Monitor capital spending and support capital project tracking
- Review and approve plant purchases, payroll submissions, and project requests
- Partner with plant leadership to drive cost control, process discipline, and financial visibility throughout operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in cost accounting or plant/manufacturing finance
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
- Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with both finance and plant teams
