Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments to ensure accurate billing and treatment planning
- Manage insurance claims submissions, follow-ups, and appeals to facilitate timely reimbursements
- Review and interpret dental insurance policies, including managed care plans, to determine coverage details
- Maintain meticulous medical records and ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems accurately for billing purposes
- Collaborate with dental staff to confirm treatment plans align with insurance coverage parameters
- Conduct insurance verification efficiently using office experience and medical terminology knowledge to resolve discrepancies promptly
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental office administration or medical office setting with a focus on insurance processing
- Strong understanding of dental coding, and insurance verification procedures
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing documentation
