Title: Head Cook (Secondary)
Reports To: Food Service Supervisor
Employment Status: Part Time or Full Time
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.
3. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
General Description: Supervise and assist in the preparation of all food.
Essential Functions:
- Carry out instructions in preparing food as outlined on the menus using established district recipes to provide students with a variety of nutritional lunches that create both eye appeal and maximum sales.
- Order food, baking items and supplies as needed.
- Check in food and supplies as they arrive to ensure correct amount, prices, and items on invoice.
- Maintain inventory of the storeroom and the freezer in a neat, clean and efficient manner to be able to order efficiently and keep inventories at a minimum.
- Instruct all employees on proper attire and sanitation procedures.
- Supervise and assist in daily cleaning of kitchen to ensure meeting the requirements set by the Board of Health.
- Report all necessary repairs to the Food Service Supervisor.
- Cooperate with the building principal in the operation of the food service program in your building. Have good communications with your teachers and be ready to assist in nutritional programs planned in the classroom.
- Instruct new personnel in job responsibilities and procedures. Encourage employees to work together as a team to accomplish goals.
- Assign cafeteria personnel various duties as needed and still maintain wage and hour control as directed by Food Service Supervisor.
- Strive to maintain pride in work and job satisfaction of all employees.
- Carefully evaluate and submit evaluation of cafeteria staff to Food Service Supervisor as requested.
- Check daily transaction sheets, receipts and deposit money. Follow district money-handling procedures.
- Be responsible for the on-time completion of time sheets, bills, monthly inventories, monthly reports; and direct to office of Food Service Supervisor.
- Be responsible for locking all doors and turning off all lights and equipment when leaving kitchen at the end of the day.
- Be responsive to public relations with parents, P.T.A. and other organizations within your school.
- Attend head cook meetings for a continuing program of communications and feedback between head cook and Food Service Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.
