What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Services Program Director position at Forest County Potawatomi Community?
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Develops departmental goals, operational objectives, and budgets in line with short and long-range plans for culturally-sensitive social services programs.
- Strategically plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the various Social Services programs in keeping with the Tribal community’s priorities and needs.
- Develops and maintains effective inter-agency working relationships while protecting Tribal sovereignty.
- Collaborates with the Division Administrator to consult with governmental officials at the tribal, municipal, and county levels, private industry, and community members.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensures fiscal responsibility.
- Prepares a variety of reports, studies, and correspondence for Division Administrator, Executive Council, Tribal Court, Tribal Prosecutors, and Tribal community on program services.
- Completes employee performance evaluations, ensures that training is completed, and administers corrective action with consultation from Human Resources.
- Establishes and coordinates policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- 5 years of experience in a social work setting
- 5 years of leadership experience
- Experience appearing in a court setting
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, family studies, or closely related field
- Pass a background check with fingerprint clearance and drug test as a condition of employment and must continue to maintain throughout duration of employment.
- Effectively use computers and computer application software.
- Work more than forty hours in a workweek and unusual hours in the event of emergency needs.
- Understanding of grants and grant compliance
Preferred qualifications:
- 5-10 years of progressive experience including at least 3 years of experience leading a tribal ICW program.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, family studies, or closely related field
- Experience working in a tribal setting
