Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
- Works closely with the Adult Services Department and Family Services team members in coordinating culturally relevant events, activities, individual service plans, and partnerships.
- Provides support to guardianship clients by filing of guardianship petitions, maintaining contact with guardianship clients to ensure needs are met and other services as needed.
- Serves as a model of exemplary cultural identity for people in recovery by demonstrating recovery from crime victimization is possible, as well as sharing suggestions of positive steps toward recovery including accepting responsibility of personal change.
- Carries an active caseload of identified community members necessitating greater assistance with appropriate case planning, assessments, etc. Provides assessments and resources to determine guardianship needs.
- Attends court hearings in both State and Tribal court regarding client identified guardianship matters.
- Coach guardians in the independent use of community supports.
- Assesses, reports, and makes appropriate recommendations for any indication of abuse or neglect.
- Supervises the Adult Services Department Case Workers along with all associated and identified duties. This includes all associated performance evaluations, time management, review of time & effort reporting responsibilities, etc.
- Manages all Adult Services Department related budgets and grants. This includes assuring all grant reports, budgets, and identified communications are completed.
- Helps to identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources. Develop strategies, and with other stakeholders, work to overcome these barriers. Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
- Knowledge of Tribal and Forest County Community culture. (i.e. Potawatomi, Sokaogon).
- Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures.
- Knowledge of crime victimization and resilience principles.
- Ability to take an average of 18 weeks of On-Call responsibilities each year.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
- Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens.
- Social Worker License preferred.
- Guardianship / conservatorship background preferred.
