Project Coordinators support this role by providing field inputs, documentation, and supporting data; however, the Project Controls Lead retains ownership and accountability for all project controls analysis, forecasting, reporting, and outputs.

The role implements established project controls standards and systems at the project level but does not own corporate standards or multi-project governance.

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 7–10 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, cost control, or performance management roles within the construction industry
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex construction projects, preferably in power transmission or other linear infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of project controls principles, including schedule control, cost management, progress measurement, and forecasting

SCHEDULE, COST & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain the integrated project schedule, including baseline management, updates, and look-ahead planning
  • Track installed quantities, productivity, and earned value to support accurate cost and schedule forecasting
  • Monitor cost performance, change impacts, and forecast trends in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Identify schedule and cost variances, risks, and opportunities, and recommend mitigation or recovery actions

REPORTING & ANALYTICS

  • Prepare and issue weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc internal and external project controls reports
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and performance metrics aligned with project and corporate requirements
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of schedule, cost, and performance data to support proactive decision-making

SYSTEM, STANDARDS & DATA INTEGRITY

  • Implement and maintain approved project controls systems, coding structures, and procedures on the project
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all project controls data across systems and reports
  • Provide guidance to project teams on project controls processes, data requirements, and reporting standards
  • Support continuous improvement of project-level controls workflows and reporting efficiency

STAKEHOLDER & TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Direct and coordinate project controls support activities, defining required inputs, formats, and timelines
  • Review and validate inputs provided by Project Coordinators, including quantities, progress updates, and documentation, prior to incorporation into project controls systems
  • Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to Project Coordinators to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Coordinate closely with Construction, Materials, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure field execution is accurately reflected in project controls

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced computer proficiency is mandatory, including strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, and project reporting tools
  • Experience with project controls and ERP systems such as Power BI, SAP, Ecosys, Viewpoint, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly to project leadership
