What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Foot & Ankle Specialist of The Villages?
As a fast-paced podiatry office, we have an immediate position open for a medical assistant. With this position, we are offering full time hours (32-40 hrs/week). Prior podiatry experience is not required, but is a plus. This office is a small office that consists of 2 podiatric physicians, 2 front desk receptionists, and 5 medical assistants. We are looking for an applicant who has the following:
- MUST be able to stand for long periods of time. (This is NOT a sit-down job)
- MUST be able multi-task. (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- MUST have your own reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- MUST be able to accept constructive criticism (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- MUST be able to function in a high paced environment
- MUST be able to work through stressful situations.
This position does not require any prior experience.
**ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED**
We as an office see, about 50-70 patients a day. We function with two providers. It is very important that this applicant is able to multi-task and demonstrate exceptional problem solving. This IS NOT your typical sit down medical assisting job. So if you are looking for a minimal effort job, this is not for you. We are a private office and have a smaller staff, so this applicant must be able to juggle mutliple responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Patient encounters
- Patient charting via EHR
- Physician support
- Light administrative work
- Patient care
- Demonstrating strong communication skills
Both provider's in the office do quite a bit of surgery via in office or outpatient facilities . Therefore, we see larger amounts of postoperative wounds and incisions. In order to be employed in our office, you MUST be able to function around the following:
- Blood
- Bone
- Strong smells
- Bodily fluids
Work hours:
Monday - Thursday : 8AM - 6PM
Friday: 8AM - 2PM
There are a couple days within the year that are require your presence.
MANDATORY DAYS
- Select Wednesday afternoons (usually 3/4 Wednesdays out of the month) we travel to our Ocala office.
- SAM conference in Orlando, FL (end of January, early February), This is a podiatry conference that certifies you as a podiatric x-ray tech. (Friday-Sunday, accomodations provided)
Job Type: Full-time **SIGN ON BONUS AFTER 30 DAYS**
- Hourly pay is based on experience and qualifications such as certifications.
