Job Summary

Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) system, Athenahealth, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, to facilitate seamless billing processes
- Collect and review medical documentation, including intake forms, care plans, and medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and billing procedures related to medical collection efforts
- Manage appointment reminders, rescheduling needs, and patient follow-up communications efficiently
- Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, typing reports, filing documents, and updating patient information in office management software
- Uphold excellent phone etiquette when handling inquiries from patients or insurance providers while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
Experience
- Prior experience working in a busy medical or dental office environment with familiarity in clinic operations and front desk responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth is highly preferred
- Demonstrated competence in insurance verification, and documentation review processes
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and compassionately
- Experience with multi-line phone systems, HIPAA compliance standards, and health information management practices are essential for success in this role
