Job description:
As a Kitchen Lead Cook, you will be responsible for managing daily operations of the stores prepared foods department. This includes ensuring consistent food quality, maintaining food safety standards, and meeting production goals for ready-to-eat meals, hot bar, cold cases, catering trays, and grab-and-go items. This role blends culinary leadership with retail operations, focusing on efficiency, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Assist in menu planning and development
- Oversee daily food preparation for hot bar, deli, and meal kits.
- Ensure recipes and portion standards are followed.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation
- Plan daily production based on sales forecasts and foot traffic.
- Minimize food waste and control shrink.
- Oversee that all cleaning requirements are being met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Ensure proper labeling, dating, storage, and rotation (FIFO).
- Monitor temperatures of hot/cold foods.
- Ensuring kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
Skills:
- 2 or more years in commercial kitchen or prepared foods.
- Experience in grocery, catering, or institutional food experience preferred.
- High-volume food production experience.
- Strong knife and food handling skills and understanding of food safety.
- Menu execution and standardized recipes.
- Knowledge of allergens and dietary needs.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
