Who We Are:

Our story began in 2011 when a group of office workers at a major logistics company in Chicago had a lunch problem. Nearby options were limited and the team was spending too much time and money traveling to their favorite restaurants. They had an idea: bring Chicago’s local restaurant culture inside the office to sell food.  It was an immediate hit. When they discovered people from other companies sneaking into their office, they knew they were on to something.

Fooda pioneered the concept of rotating popup restaurants inside offices. Today, we operate in 60 cities with over 100 million meals served and continue to grow rapidly.

Powered by technology and a network of 1500 restaurants, we feed hungry people at work through a platform of unique food programs located within companies, office buildings, hospitals, schools, distribution centers, and more. Who We Are Looking For:
The HR Generalist is a broad, employee-facing role that supports employees across core HR operations and People programs. This person manages day-to-day HR processes, supports employee relations, and helps plan and execute companywide employee events and engagement initiatives. The role also helps modernize how HR work gets done by simplifying workflows and automating repeatable processes. The HR Generalist is a trusted, hands-on partner who helps ensure Fooda’s people practices and programs run smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, programs, and day-to-day questions.
• Continuously improve the employee experience by simplifying or automating HR processes, strengthening communication, and delivering exceptional service to the team.
• Administer employee lifecycle changes, including hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding. Ensure changes are accurately documented, communicated, and reflected across HR systems, while identifying opportunities to streamline and automate repeatable processes.
• Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring employees have a positive and seamless start at Fooda.
• Plan and execute companywide People programs and events, including employee summits, recognition events, regional trips, and employee engagement activities. Coordinate timelines, communications, vendors, budget, materials, and event logistics to ensure a strong employee experience.
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with legal requirements, employment laws, HR policies, and company documentation standards.
• Partner with managers to address employee relations matters, performance concerns, coaching conversations, and related documentation, with the support of the HR Manager and CPO.
• Support People Team initiatives such as policy updates, reporting requests, employee communications, process improvements, and special projects.
• Own Chicago office operations, ensuring the headquarters is well-stocked, organized, and guest-ready. Coordinate mail, deliveries, building access, vendors, and general office operations.
• Support logistics for the weekly Fooda All Company meeting, including scheduling presenters and ensuring the meeting runs smoothly.

What You Should Already Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
• 2–5 years of general HR or People Operations experience
• Strong understanding of HR principles and employment law
• Ability to build relationships at all levels
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Experience using HR systems (UKG Ready preferred)
• Displays highest level of discretion with confidential information
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
