Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Stained Glass Making Instructor to lead engaging, hands-on classes for older adults of varying skill levels. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in stained glass techniques with the ability to teach, inspire creativity, and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver structured stained glass classes, workshops, and demonstrations
- Teach core techniques including glass cutting, grinding, foiling, leading, and soldering
- Provide clear, step-by-step instruction tailored to beginner through advanced students
- Assist students with project design, troubleshooting, and skill development
- Ensure proper use of tools and adherence to all safety procedures
- Prepare and maintain classroom materials, tools, and equipment
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Manage inventory and communicate supply needs
- Foster a welcoming, creative, and inclusive learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in stained glass creation and techniques
- Proficiency with stained glass tools and materials
- Prior teaching, instructing, or workshop facilitation experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of studio safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work with older adults of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
- Background in fine arts, crafts, or art education
- Experience with stained glass repair or restoration
- Portfolio of completed stained glass work
