North Reading Public Schools is seeking candidates for a Food Services Driver position. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.
The Food Services Driver is a less than 19 hours per week schedule, school year (180.0 days) assignment. A tentative schedule is 8:00-11:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
This position reports to the Director of Food Services.
Essential duties
- Drive a District vehicle to various locations to pick up and deliver Food Services related items including, but not limited to, food, equipment and supplies, paperwork, and chemicals
- Perform a variety of duties related to the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of Food Services food, equipment, and supplies
- Prepare and maintain related records and reports with the Director of Food Services
- Assure Food Services equipment and supplies are delivered in a timely manner
- Receive, unload, and inspect shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips
- Report shortages, damaged goods, or other discrepancies to Director of Food Services in a timely manner
- Utilize Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) methods and reporting
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle, perform regular visual inspection, fuel vehicle, and routinely review safety checklist on district vehicle
- Shelve and store items received in the appropriate section of each campus, place food items in racks, coolers, or freezers as required
- Rotate perishable and nonperishable inventory as needed
- Communicate with school Leads and Director of Food Services regarding the pick-up and delivery of orders
- Assist in periodic inventory activities as directed
- Work closely with the Food Service Leads, Director of Food Services, and other staff on a daily basis
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations, or their designee
Requirements
- Possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license
- Possess a valid 7D driver’s license, preferred
- One (1) year past experience in food service, delivery, and/or driving preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler certification preferred
- Hardworking and energetic
- Works well with colleagues
- Can work independently
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
