Structural Project Manager – Multifamily Construction

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to oversee the structural engineering and construction coordination of multifamily residential projects. This role serves as the key liaison between engineering, project management, field operations, and subcontractors to ensure structural work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, schedules, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in concrete and structural steel design, field inspections, quality control, value engineering, and project administration. This individual will support projects from preconstruction through closeout while maintaining excellent communication with project stakeholders and ensuring successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review structural concrete and steel drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and engineering standards.
  • Evaluate structural designs and recommend value engineering opportunities and constructability improvements.
  • Coordinate structural engineering activities with project management, field operations, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Perform field inspections to verify quality, monitor installation progress, and ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
  • Support procurement activities, including subcontractor outreach, bid evaluations, contract buyout, and supplier coordination.
  • Attend Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate permitting activities and assist with project approvals and inspections.
  • Maintain project documentation, drawing revisions, specifications, permits, and construction records.
  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate timely procurement and delivery of materials.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, consultants, and ownership to ensure successful project execution.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on every project.
  • Perform additional project management responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (plan stamping not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering, structural project management, or construction management experience.
  • Experience supporting multifamily or commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel systems.
  • Experience performing field inspections and quality assurance reviews.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or the ability to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass applicable pre-employment background and drug screening requirements.

Required Skills

  • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of constructability reviews, conflict resolution, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Understanding of permitting, inspections, and local building codes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment, jobsite logistics, and quality control procedures.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position.
  • Combination of office and active construction site responsibilities.
  • Frequent travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during site inspections.
  • Ability to walk construction sites, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required during all field visits.
