We are recruiting a Plant Controller for a manufacturing client located in the Blacksburg, VA area. This role serves as the senior finance leader at a small manufacturing facility and requires a hands-on professional who can manage the full accounting and financial function for the plant.
The Plant Controller will partner closely with plant leadership, operations, and corporate finance to support financial reporting, cost control, and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities
• Manage all plant-level accounting and financial reporting activities
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Analyze manufacturing costs, overhead, and cost variances to support operational improvements
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the facility
• Monitor budget performance and identify opportunities for cost control and efficiency
• Oversee inventory accounting, inventory valuation, and inventory control processes
• Perform account reconciliations and review journal entries to ensure financial accuracy
• Prepare variance analysis and financial reports for plant leadership and corporate finance
• Support internal and external financial audits and maintain compliance with financial regulations
• Provide financial analysis to support capital investments and operational initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and plant financial performance
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Manufacturing finance or plant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing financial analysis
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
