Our client, a well-established engineering firm, is seeking a Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer / Project Manager to join their Phoenix office. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed PE with strong drainage and flood control experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, with preference given to candidates familiar with the Phoenix metropolitan area and Arizona drainage requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software including HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies, drainage reports, and FEMA permitting documentation
  • Research and apply jurisdictional drainage requirements to project designs and construction documents
  • Oversee the preparation of drainage design plans and construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD
  • Manage data analysis and develop exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams on public infrastructure and flood control projects
  • Mentor and support EIT staff in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles and best practices
  • Conduct field/site visits and document findings
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and supporting graphics

Project Management & Leadership

  • Support successful project delivery through effective planning, coordination, and execution
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality management procedures and project workflows
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and principals to allocate resources effectively
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Arizona
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • Minimum 5 years of drainage engineering experience
  • Experience with public infrastructure and flood control projects preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HEC-RAS
    • HEC-RAS 2D
    • HEC-HMS
    • FLO-2D
    • AutoCAD
    • ArcGIS and QGIS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering documentation, and technical specifications
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
