Our client, a well-established engineering firm, is seeking a Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer / Project Manager to join their Phoenix office. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed PE with strong drainage and flood control experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, with preference given to candidates familiar with the Phoenix metropolitan area and Arizona drainage requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software including HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D
- Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies, drainage reports, and FEMA permitting documentation
- Research and apply jurisdictional drainage requirements to project designs and construction documents
- Oversee the preparation of drainage design plans and construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD
- Manage data analysis and develop exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams on public infrastructure and flood control projects
- Mentor and support EIT staff in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles and best practices
- Conduct field/site visits and document findings
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and supporting graphics
Project Management & Leadership
- Support successful project delivery through effective planning, coordination, and execution
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with internal quality management procedures and project workflows
- Collaborate closely with project managers and principals to allocate resources effectively
- Identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Arizona
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Minimum 5 years of drainage engineering experience
- Experience with public infrastructure and flood control projects preferred
- Strong working knowledge of:
- HEC-RAS
- HEC-RAS 2D
- HEC-HMS
- FLO-2D
- AutoCAD
- ArcGIS and QGIS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering documentation, and technical specifications
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
